Sessions of 365 Dad

Sessions of 365 Dad:

Mission Amarillo received the grant that provides the start up funds and are now moving toward getting 365 Dad up and rolling. We will begin taking registration for dads 25 and younger on Monday, July 5. We will have an introductory session on Wednesday, August 11 at 6pm. At this session, the dads will be informed of what the course is like, the benefits they will receive, and what we will expect from them. If they choose to continue in the 365 Dad, we will have our first full session on Wednesday, August 18 and run through Wednesday, Nov. 3. We will begin recruiting mentors in August and conduct mentor training on a date to be announced in September or early October.

These young dads will go through a 12 week training using evidence based curriculum from the National Fatherhood Initiative. Upon completion of the first 12 weeks, they will be assigned a mentor and encouraged to enroll in another 12 week course to complete the program. Their mentor will encourage them to stay involved with 365 Dad, help them determine a career and how to pursue it, and be a friend that they can go to for dad and relationship advice. The mentors will stick with the dads as long as the dads want.
