#GiveFromHomeDay taking place on April 21, 2020

Amarillo, TX. — The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Amarillo will be taking part in #GiveFromHomeDay on April 21, 2020. This national fundraising drive puts the power of giving into the hands of Americans who are anxious to help neighbors and strangers alike who struggle with the economic and health impacts of the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

Many nonprofits are unfortunately unable to continue providing services during these challenging times. With CDC-issued modifications and precautions in place and a temporary hold on all of the organization’s other core programs, the Ronald McDonald House in Amarillo is proud to be able to keep its doors open and provide a home away from home for families with ill children during this difficult season. Additionally, the charity is still able to move forward with the construction of its new House to better meet the needs of families, but is still $372,834 short of raising the funds needed to complete the project. With people out of work, small businesses closed, schools shut down, and seniors more isolated than ever, the concept of helping our neighbors and communities has been brought to the forefront of social conversation.

Sadly, at the same time, nonprofits like The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Amarillo have experienced a sudden and significant drop in funding as events have been canceled and the attention of loyal donors has been pulled away to other urgent personal concerns.

But for the families who rely on Ronald McDonald House Charities of Amarillo, their needs have not taken a break to quarantine. Pediatric accidents, childhood cancer diagnoses, and premature births don’t ever take a break, so neither can RMHCA.

The pandemic has made millions of Americans reliant on — and increasingly skilled
at — the technologies that are connecting us. #GiveFromHomeDay on April 21
will focus attention on the act of giving and helping fellow Americans in the age of COVID-19. In 2019, The Ronald McDonald House Charities provided nearly 1,900 nights of housing to families with ill children receiving medical care, delivered 2,500 gifts and toys to children in our area’s hospitals, and served 11,000 visits to family members of children receiving medical treatment at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Northwest Texas Healthcare System. #GiveFromHomeDay is an opportunity to unite the community together through technology during these isolating times in order to help our area’s children fighting currently medical battles. Gifts can be made through the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Amarillo page on Facebook, online at wwww.rmhcofamarillo.org, or mailed directly to the charity at:
