Employees are one of a company’s greatest assets. Recognition and appreciation are known as some of the key motivational factors in the workplace. An employer may show their gratitude for an employee’s efforts and contributions to the company’s goals in a variety of ways. Many organizations include employee appreciation as part of their business structure. It shows how much they value their employees and keeps morale high in the workplace. Employers who express employee appreciation tend to increase employee job satisfaction as well.

National Multiple Personality Day @ National Multiple Personality Day
Mar 5 all-day

National Multiple Personality Day on March 5th has two separate approaches to recognizing this day.

The first strategy takes an inward examination of our own personalities. This approach sees the day as a way to explore personality traits and examining the roots of those traits. Each one of us shows a different side of our characters at other times and in different places. Sometimes our personalities appear to be altered, depending on whom we are with and what we are doing. With these things in mind, the day focuses our thoughts on our own personality traits.

National Speech & Debate Education Day @ National Speech & Debate Education Day
Mar 5 all-day

The First Friday in March is National Speech and Debate Education Day to prepare students to do more than speaking publicly. Through the support of coaches and teachers, students learn the skills vital to success in future careers and everyday decision making. The ability to conduct thorough research, construct intelligent arguments and receive constructive criticism produces assured citizens able to collaborate and communicate their ideas in effective, even eloquent ways.  The observance encourages communities to show the coaches and teachers support for their hard work and dedication. They spend long hours preparing and helping the students after the school day has ended. These sessions often occur after their workday has ended and before they have even been home to their families. Speech and Debate coaches spend as much time as athletic coaches preparing, studying rules, reviewing speeches, pairing teams, making changes, students work, traveling, judges and hosting events.

Greyhound Gallery Opening Exhibition Show

Fine Art Brings Luck to Downtown Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas –– Luck is the theme of March 17 each year and the Greyhound Gallery is bringing at bit of that luck to downtown with an opening art exhibition.

The Greyhound Gallery presents ‘The Lucky Dog’ opening art exhibition show Friday, March 5th. The exhibition will start at 6 pm in The Derrick located at 814 S. Taylor. The opening show will feature local artists as well as artists from Oklahoma City, OK; Denver, CO; Lubbock, TX; Austin, TX; and the DFW metroplex. The event will have live music by local singer, Emily George and cocktails along with area food trucks Stix and Cocina on the Go. The Greyhound Gallery will also giving away original pieces of art to several lucky guests for those that attend the event.

“We are beyond excited to get the chance to show off this space after being limited by the pandemic,” gallery manager Jesse Melson says, “we planned originally to open last April but had to put things on hold. So, in the down time we gathered a collection from local artists and several from north Texas and Colorado that you should come and see.”

The Greyhound Gallery sits in a space that was originally built as a Greyhound Bus Station in 1946 – now called The Derrick. The historic station is now utilized as an event space, art gallery, executive office suites and co-working membership space, and showcases the Tascosa Office Furniture Showroom. “Having a gallery in this space just makes sense. Having multiple events each year – weddings, cooperate parties, non-profit events and soon the co-working space, it provides eye candy for anyone that enters but also provides the chance for an artist to sell their work,” owner Bryan Barton tells us.

With the historic qualities and architecture of the building, the gallery lives in 13,000 square feet of space and has 600+ feet of linear wall space to work with throughout the three floors of the building. “At the moment we have nearly 130 pieces of art hanging,” said Melson, “and we expect 30-50 more pieces to arrive by the opening show.”
