National Geographic photo exhibit
to open at Arts in the Sunset

Arts in the Sunset visitors will wit-
ness some ofthe most surprising animal

behavior in the new National Geograph-
ic exhibition, “The Greatest Wildlife

Photographs.” The exhibit opens Sept.
23 in the Ann Crouch Gallery and is free
and open to the public.
The very best wildlife pictures from

the pages of National Geographic maga-
zine have been chosen to be dis.played in

this exhibition, according to the Amaril-
lo Arts Institute news release.

Curated by renowned nature picture
editor, Kathy Moran, this exhibition is a
celebratory look at wildlife with images
taken by National Geographic’s most
iconic photographers such as, Michael

“Nick”Nichols, Steve Winter, Paul Nick-
len, Beverly Joubert, David Doubilet

and more.

Showcasing the evolution of photog-
raphy, the images convey how innova-
tions such as camera traps, remote im-
aging, and underwater technology have

granted photographers access to wild-
life in their natural habitat.

“The Greatest Wildlife Photographs”
will remain open at Arts in the Sunset
until Dec. 22.

SOUTHWEST AMBUCS 2024 GOBBLE WOBBLE 

Buy A Turkey, Give A Turkey And Help A Child In Need

Southwest AMBUCS will be hosting its 17th annual Gobble Wobble turkey drive from October 1st until November 18th. All turkeys will be available for pickup at our trailer located at Westgate Mall or by delivery starting November 21st.

By donating $100 the participant will receive an Edes Meats smoked turkey (12-14Ib cooked), and purchase a frozen turkey to help feed a family in need, and support our local effort of Inspiring Mobility & Independence through our AmTryke program, all inclusive parks, and therapy scholarships. Those who wish to participate may purchase a turkey on our website.

A discount will be given for any purchase of 10 or more turkeys.

concerts during November
Five diverse concerts will be featured
this month in the Amarillo College’s
Concert Hall Theater on the Washington
·Street Campus, beginning with the AC
Band Concert on Nov.11and concluding

with the AC Chamber Orchestra & Gui-
tar Ensemble Concert on Nov. 21. All

events are free and open to the public.
At 7:30 p.m. Monday, the Veterans

Day concert by the AC Band will show-
case patriotic music and some mariachi

tunes. Mariachi ACwill greet patrons.
: “For the Beauty of the Earth: Hymns
& Folksongs” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.

stallment features Dr. Eric M. Daub,

professor emeritus of music at Texas
Lutheran University, who will present
Inspirational hymns and folk songs.
During the Suzuki Program Orchestras
&Ensembles Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday,

Nov.17,the program will feature orches-

tral pieces and ensembles by students

from elementary to high school age. Al-
ways an audience favorite, the ACJazz

Ensemble and Vocal Jazz Concert at
7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 is typically
filled with modern tunes that audiences
know and love. Then, the audience will
enjoy sounds of orchestral string music

and guitar ensembles at the AC Cham-
ber Orchestra & Guitar Ensemble Con-
cert at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21.

As a capstone, the AC Concert Choir
and the Amarillo Master Chorale will
perform with the Amarillo Symphony (a
paid event) – for Epic Movie Music! on
Nov.22-23 at the Globe-News Center for
the Performing Arts.

Canyon ISD Transportation Department to Host Bus Driver Job Fair

Canyon, TX — The Canyon ISD Transportation Department is holding a Bus Driver Job Fair on

Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the CISD Bus Barn, located at

3201 N 23rd Street in Canyon. This event offers job seekers the chance to join a dedicated

team and make a lasting impact in the lives of students across the district.

Prospective bus drivers will have the opportunity to meet with the transportation director, learn

about the role, and even participate in on-the-spot interviews. With a competitive starting pay of

$17 an hour, CISD is committed to providing both meaningful employment and professional

growth. No CDL? No problem! Canyon ISD offers paid training to help new drivers obtain their

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), supporting their journey from the start.
