AMARILLO –  The City of Amarillo (COA) Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare Department (AAMW) is again joining the national campaign to help pet adoption – NBC’s Clear the Shelters initiative.

Clear the Shelters runs from Aug. 10 through Sept. 30.

This will be the 10th year for the campaign nationally – with more than 1 million animals adopted across the country during Clear the Shelters in 2023.

“Clear the Shelters is a wonderful program that really helps increase public awareness of pet adoption,” said AAMW Outreach Coordinator Samantha Bennett. “We look forward to participating in this event every year. It really helps highlight the need in the Amarillo community for pet adoption, in addition to the many services provided here at AAMW.”

AAMW is providing a Clear the Shelters special throughout August. Adoption fees for dogs are $25 and cats are $5. Fees include spaying/neutering, vaccinations and micro-chipping. Specific information regarding animals available for adoption at AAMW (including photos, breed, age, etc.) is available online at:

The Starlight Ranch Event Center, lo-
cated at 1415Sunrise Drive, has a full

lineup of concerts and festivals in the
works as summer transitions into the
fall months. Among performers and
events coming to the venue are a Linkin
Park tribute band (In The End – Aug. 23),
the toadies (Aug. 31), Neal McCoy (Oct.
4), Octoberfest (Oct. 5), Shane Smith

and the Saints (Oct.ll), the rescheduled
CalfFry Festival (Oct. 12),Paul Wall with
special guest Chalie Boy (Oct. 25), Wade
Bowen (Oct. 26), and more .
. Newly announced are a concert and

fundraising event. Steaks & Two Step-
pin’ returns with special guest Lane

Smith on Oct. 19, with proceeds sup-
porting Special Olympics Texas – Pan-
handle Area.

At 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at Starlight Ranch
Event Center, a “Burgers and Bash”

fundraiser organized by Andreas Pro-
ject will feature a day of activities, in-
cluding burgers, professional wrestling

matches, bounce houses, face painting,

and a fun mini-golf course. The non-
profit is committed to preventing drink-
ing and driving, as well as curbing un-
derage drinking. Gates open at 2 p.m.

with wrestling from 2:30-5 p.m.

The tournament will be held at Palo Duro Creek Golf Course. This is a 4 person scramble.  Price is $720/Team or $180/person, so each team sponsors 4 children— for an entire year!
