Celebrate the opening of two new exhibitions at AMoA. The 2025 BIENNIAL-600 highlights artists working across all materials and genres, while Wicked Wells and Window Wipeouts features recent paintings and sculptures by Tristram Lansdowne and Ryan Crowley. The evening will include gallery talks and the opportunity to be among the first to view these dynamic exhibitions.
The Marriage
of Figaro
Set in 18th-century Spain, The Marriage of Figaro follows one frantic day in the household of Count Almaviva. Figaro, the Count’s valet, is preparing to marry Susanna, the Countess’s maid. However, trouble arises when Figaro discovers that the Count is attempting to seduce Susanna. Outraged, Figaro vows to thwart the Count’s plans and secure his marriage. Susanna, clever and quick-witted, becomes an equal partner in the scheme, exposing the Count’s hypocrisy while navigating her own challenges in the palace.
Meanwhile, the Countess Almaviva suffers quietly, aware of her husband’s infidelities but unsure how to regain his affection. She joins forces with Susanna to teach the Count a lesson, hatching a plan to trap him in his own deceit. They agree to switch places for a nighttime rendezvous: Susanna will dress as the Countess to lure the Count, while the Countess, in Susanna’s clothes, will witness his betrayal firsthand. As the evening unfolds, disguises, mistaken identities, and overheard conversations build toward chaos and comic
confusion.
Adding to the frenzy are several colorful characters. Cherubino, a lovesick teenage page, flits from woman to woman while trying to escape punishment from the Count. Marcellina, once an obstacle to Figaro’s marriage, is revealed to be his long-lost mother, and the scheming Dr. Bartolo turns out to be his father. Even the gardener Antonio, Susanna’s jealous cousin, gets swept up in the madness. Amid the spiraling misunderstandings, love notes go astray, doors are slammed, and secrets are nearly exposed—until the moonlit garden scene where all truths are revealed.
In the end, the Count is caught red-handed and the Countess gives forgiveness, which she offers with grace and dignity. Figaro and Susanna are finally wed, and harmony is restored—at least for now. Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro combines comedy, romance, and social commentary into one of opera’s most beloved masterpieces, offering a timeless reflection on love, power, and redemption.

It is once again time for our annual VA Welcome Home celebration, and we are so excited that we will have a new venue in the Amarillo Civic Center for the event this year . If you are receiving this email, you have either joined us in the past, have requested the information, or have been referred to be a part. The event focuses on thanking our Veterans for their service, offering resources and information that may be beneficial to them, and it generates a great crowd.
If you have participated in the past, THANK YOU, and we hope you come back this year! If you have not, we would love for you to join us as we come together as a community to thank our Veterans and their families. We have hosted up to 2000 people at this event in prior years, so you will have the opportunity to share your program/business information with a huge audience at NO COST. All vendor space is FREE and is first come, first serve. Anyone is welcome to have a booth and we welcome you to come and enjoy the celebration and mingle with some of our nation’s greatest. This year space is somewhat limited, and we only have room for 60 vendors, so please get your forms in early!
If you would like to participate, we ask that you return the attached vendor form ASAP to the contact below so we can save a space for you. Lunch is also provided free of charge to everyone in attendance, including Vendors.
If you would like to be in the CHILDREN’s AREA specifically, please notate it on your vendor form. If you have any questions about the children’s area, please contact Reagan Maldonado at the numbers listed below.

The Engler College of Business, in partnership with the WT Enterprise Center and America’s SBDC at WTAMU, is hosting its 3rd annual Buff Business Summit & Competition. High school students from across Amarillo and Canyon will be competing to solve challenges presented by local small businesses. Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) serves homeless women in recovery from alcohol and other drug addictions through our four shelters: Haven House, Haven House Too, Abba House, and Gratitude House. Haven House Too is for women new in recovery who are pregnant or have children with them. This shelter opened in February 2025 and has been full ever since.
More than 250 women have successfully completed the DWC Recovery Program since 2007 when we started having graduation ceremonies. Barnes Jewelry designed and made a special one-of-a-kind cross necklace for our graduates in 2007, and the necklaces are still given to each graduate today. Don and Brenda Adams continue to provide these necklaces.
We are celebrating six strong and brave women who are now living clean, sober, and productive lives. Please join us as we celebrate their graduation from the DWC Recovery Program.
Graduates and staff will be available for interviews.
DWC Mission: To provide housing and services to overcome homelessness and addiction.
