
Carver’s 75th Anniversary: This Saturday, Aug. 9, marks the celebration of the 75th anniversary of George Washington Carver High School (1905 NW 12th Ave.) in Amarillo. Located in the North Heights, Carver was Amarillo’s only public school for Black students until 1967, when it closed after Amarillo integrated public schools.
