The SQUIRES mentoring group for boys(2nd-6th grade) provides character-building lessons and activities geared toward focusing on their identity in Christ. With energetic lessons and activities, boys are taught the qualities of a Godly man.

The BRAVEHEARTS mentoring group for boys (7th-12th grade) offers a weekend getaway to High Plains Retreat Center where we provide teaching & mentoring about how to become a man of honor and integrity.
Hiking, zipline, rappelling, lodging & meals provided

I am chairing the Amarillo Out of the Darkness Walk for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention West Texas Chapter, and we are looking for vendors, committee members, and volunteers on the day of the event. We will host it again this year at the Sam Houston Park on Saturday October 5th. Listed is the QR code to register and this also leads to the event webpage that has my information listed should there be anyone interested in the above-mentioned areas. We are asking that individuals who register, register, and donate $9.88 as this is the second upcoming anniversary of the 988 hotline and text line number.

AMARILLO – TxDOT’s number one priority is safety and it doesn’t just apply to building and maintaining roadways. TxDOT staff actively engages and participates in local community events aimed at increasing safe driving techniques for the traveling public. On Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, TxDOT staff will participate in APD’s annual “National Night Out” event.
October is recognized as National Pedestrian Safety Month. TxDOT staff saw this event as a great opportunity to inform residents about safety on the roadways as both a driver and pedestrian. TxDOT is committed and proud to work with the APD and other local law enforcement agencies to promote safer communities.

National Geographic photo exhibit
to open at Arts in the Sunset
Arts in the Sunset visitors will wit-
ness some ofthe most surprising animal
behavior in the new National Geograph-
ic exhibition, “The Greatest Wildlife
Photographs.” The exhibit opens Sept.
23 in the Ann Crouch Gallery and is free
and open to the public.
The very best wildlife pictures from
the pages of National Geographic maga-
zine have been chosen to be dis.played in
this exhibition, according to the Amaril-
lo Arts Institute news release.
Curated by renowned nature picture
editor, Kathy Moran, this exhibition is a
celebratory look at wildlife with images
taken by National Geographic’s most
iconic photographers such as, Michael
“Nick”Nichols, Steve Winter, Paul Nick-
len, Beverly Joubert, David Doubilet
and more.
Showcasing the evolution of photog-
raphy, the images convey how innova-
tions such as camera traps, remote im-
aging, and underwater technology have
granted photographers access to wild-
life in their natural habitat.
“The Greatest Wildlife Photographs”
will remain open at Arts in the Sunset
until Dec. 22.
