Registration Now Open for TTUHSC Summer Pharmacy Camp
Registration is open for Rx Summer Camp at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy. Rx Summer Camp is a STEM-driven college-prep experience designed for high school students interested in learning more about the pharmacy profession. It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 23 to 25 at the TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy, located at 1300 South Coulter St.
“The immersive day camp experience will allow students to participate in laboratory activities, career exploration sessions, projects, simulations and campus tours,” Krystal Haase, Pharm.D., regional dean of the TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy, said. “Activities will help students discover the sciences behind medications and learn the key roles that pharmacists play in health care.”
Camp registration is $90. Scholarships are available based on need. To register, visit https://bit.ly/rxsummercamp. Applications must be received by June 6.

opportunities like this will help expand the footprint of pharmacy practice, education, research and service in our region.”
According to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of pharmacists is projected to grow 5% from 2023 to 2033. Approximately 14,200 openings for pharmacists are projected each year, on average, over the decade. These projections reflect evolving roles for pharmacists, including greater involvement in health care teams and expanded responsibilities in medication management and patient care services.
“Pharmacists do so much more than just fill prescriptions,” Haase said. “As medication experts, they educate patients and promote wellness. They also collaborate with physicians and other health professionals across various settings to ensure that medications are optimized to achieve the best possible health outcomes. As the health care landscape evolves, pharmacists are poised to grow their impact in communities across the country.”
The TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy aims to train future health care leaders in pharmacy and research. The school is the only TTUHSC school headquartered on the TTUHSC campus in Amarillo.

PPHM Invites Young Explorers to Dive into History and Science at Summer Camps
Canyon, Texas — Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum (PPHM) is excited to offer two dynamic and educational summer camps for kids, designed to ignite curiosity and spark imagination. This year’s camps are Boulders, Brands, and Bones Camp and STEAM Camp, each offering a unique, hands-on experience tied to the rich history and scientific wonders of the Texas Panhandle.
Boulders, Brands, and Bones Camp (2nd–5th Grade)
Get ready to dig, build, create, and explore! At Boulders, Brands, and Bones Camp, campers will use their hands as much as their brains as they dive into the worlds of history, art, geology, and the Wild West. Each day brings a new adventure—whether it’s STEAM, dinosaurs, geology, or panhandle culture, there’s something new to discover every day! Special guests from the Discovery Center, Wild Hanbury’s, and Dove Creek Equine Rescue will bring the learning to life—whether it’s up-close animal encounters, scientific discoveries, or cowboy culture in action. Cost is $75 (PPHM members) and $95 (PPHM nonmembers) and includes a free t-shirt.
STEAM Camp (3rd-6th grades)
Focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, STEAM Camp combines creativity with critical thinking. Campers will conduct experiments, build, and design, in a way that brings science and innovation to life. With the help of our wonderful community partners, Discovery Center and Pantex, campers will be exposed to the world of STEAM as it relates to daily lives and various careers as well. Cost is $75 (PPHM members) and $95 (PPHM nonmembers) and includes a free t-shirt.
