Dispute Resolution Center will offer Basic Mediation Training beginning February 1, 2024.
The Panhandle Regional Planning Commission Dispute Resolution Center will offer Basic Mediation training beginning Thursday, February 1st at 5:30. The classes will be weekly on Thursday evenings from 5:30 – 8:30 and will run through April 25th. The training is certified as an MCLE course by the State Bar of Texas for 40 hours of CLE with 2.5 hours of ethics.
The training will be offered at the PRPC Building, 415 SW 8th Avenue. There will be an option to attend remotely via Zoom if individuals are not able to attend in person.
Jerri Glover, Dispute Resolution Center Program Coordinator says “The Basic Mediation Training offers skills that are required to perform duties as a Mediator, but also offers vital personal and professional skills that anyone will find beneficial.” Therefore we encourage employers to consider providing the training to employees as a benefit to both the employee and the employer.
The Dispute Resolution Center operates under the direction of the Program Coordinator and Panhandle Regional Planning Commission. However the mediations are often conducted by volunteer mediators.
The training costs are:
Attorneys – $600 OR $400 with pledge of one mediation per month for 12 months. Employee sponsored and individuals $400 OR $200 with pledge of one mediation per month for 12 months. All prices include materials and resources.
Glover also stressed “We don’t want the cost to be a barrier to anyone attending the training. If the cost is going to prevent you from attending, please call and we will be happy to discuss options for you.”
To register or for additional information or questions, please contact Jerri Glover at dispute@theprpc.org or 806-372-3381.

There’s a lot going on at Mission Amarillo! First, we would like to announce that our annual spring fundraiser, FamFest will be Saturday, May 18 at Sam Houston Park. There will be around 30 vendors, food trucks, carnival games, and silent auction. It’s always a great time for the entire family and a great way to help us do what we do. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, May 18! We will be taking sponsorships for our Event Sponsors starting March 4.
Also, we are continuing to raise funds for our Be-Loved House project. We are making progress towards our goal and hope to begin renovations in the coming months. Residents at Be-Loved House will receive training in various life skills like using a bank, avoiding payday loans and rent to own, learning how to live on a budget, and how to build a credit rating. Ladies can stay in Be-Loved House for up to 2 years. Only 3 months of that will be training and the rest of their time there will be spent putting these lessons into practice. Once their 2 years are over, we will match any money they’ve saved in a savings account up to $2,000. Our goal for all our moms in Be-Loved House is that they will be able to live without the limitations of government assistance when they leave. If you’d like to donate towards renovations, follow this link. https://www.missionamarillo.org/be-loved-house
Last of all, our shoe deliveries are continuing to grow at an unprecedented rate. In past years, we typically deliver around 40-50 shoes a month in January and February. This year has been very different. In January, we gave away 120 pairs of shoes and so far in February we have given away 119 pairs! This unexpected demand has lowered our shoe inventory to far lower levels than we have ever experienced this time of year. As of this writing, we currently have 20 sizes with 10 or less in stock, several with fewer than 7. It doesn’t take long for these inventory numbers to drop to zero. If you would like to collect shoes for us, please follow this link and we will contact you with all the details! https://www.missionamarillo.org/forms/shoe-request
