NATIONAL DOORBELL DAY
On October 31st, National Doorbell Day will have doorbells ringing more than any other day of the year. NATIONAL KNOCK KNOCK JOKE DAY
Laugh out loud on National Knock Knock Joke Day! October 31st encourages telling a few funny knock knock jokes while going door to door. And the day is for jokesters of all ages, too. #KnockKnockJokeDay
DHDC is planning our family-friendly Halloween event: Monster Bash 2026!
Families will discover how science isn’t scary amongst DHDC’s new Ice Dinosaurs exhibit on Saturday, October 31st, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM! This year’s Monster Bash is before the creatures of the night come out. Come by and boo-gie in costume (costumed guests get $1 admission) and get some “treats” from our community partners while you explore the museum!
*Included in regular admission or DCC membership (with $1 admission for guests in costume)!
If you’d like to participate as a community vendor – please reach out! We’re also looking for volunteers to help decorate and to have storytimes during the day for the littles. Visit our Hands-On Amarillo page here to sign up: https://www.handsonamarillo.org/need/index?agency_id=29443

BROADCAST TRAFFIC PROFESSIONAL’S DAY
National Broadcast Traffic Professional’s Day honors those in radio and television traffic departments. Each year, the observance takes place on November 2nd, unless that day falls on a weekend. Then it is observed on the following Monday. #TrafficProfessionalsDay
NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY
Whether you stack it high or thin, National Sandwich Day on November 3rd recognizes one of America’s favorite lunch items. #NationalSandwichDay
We have a British nobleman to thank! The sandwich was popularized in 1762 by John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who allegedly asked for meat tucked between two slices of bread so he could eat without leaving the gambling table. It was convenient, and the idea instantly caught on!
Actionable Focus: How to Celebrate!
1. Go Gourmet: Ditch the basic ham and cheese. Try creating a signature sandwich with artisan bread, unique sauces, and gourmet fillings.
2. Support Your Deli: Visit a local mom-and-pop deli or sandwich shop to show them some love.
3. Pay It Forward: Make an extra sandwich and give it to a person in need—a simple way to honor a truly universal food.
Caregivers deserve a day for themselves, too! 💙
Mark your calendar for Caregiver Reset: A Day for YOU, a free caregiver conference hosted by the Area Agency on Aging of the Panhandle.
