Amarillo League of Women Voters’ Monthly Meeting This Saturday

Features Presentation on Emergency Preparedness

In the face of an emergency, climate disaster, or major event that threatens the safety of you and your family, ARE YOU PREPARED? Most folks are not, so the Amarillo League of Women Voters invites everyone from the community to join them this for their monthly membership meeting:

  • Saturday, Sept. 27th
  • Meet & mingle at 9:30 AM / Program starts at 10 AM
  • Amarillo Area Foundation, 919 S. Polk St, Amarillo, TX 79101
  • Speaker:  Max Dunlap, City of Amarillo’s Office of Emergency Management

This event is free and open to the public, and all LWV members are encouraged to attend. Refreshments, including coffee, will be provided, but attendees are also encouraged to bring snacks to share. Parking is available behind the building, and a volunteer will be at the door to allow entrance.

Reminder: This is an election year, with a constitutional amendment election scheduled for November 4th. (Early voting runs from October 20th through the 31st.) If your organization, business, nonprofit, or church is interested in having League set up a voter registration booth at an upcoming gathering, or if you’d like us to present our CIVICS 101 seminar as a refresher on local, county and state government, please contact us at amarillolwv@gmail.com or call 806-337-2148.

Interested in defending democracy and educating voters? JOIN THE LEAGUE! It’s easy. Just visit the website at www.alwv.clubexpress.com for details. Whether you want to help distribute Voters Guides around town, register new voters at high schools or community events, or join an outreach committee, reach out to LWV of Amarillo’s board president, Kimberly Anderson, at amarilloLWV@gmail.com.

More about the Amarillo League of Women Voters

Our mission is simple: “Empowering voters. Defending Democracy.” We are proud to be nonpartisan, neither supporting nor opposing political parties or candidates at any level of government, but always working on issues of vital concern to members and the public. We encourage informed and active participation in government, work to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influence public policy through education and advocacy. Our members work to register voters, provide them with election information through our Voters Guides, Candidate Forums, and community outreach. The League of Women Voters in Amarillo envisions a democracy where every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge and the confidence to participate.
