This summer, Ascension Academy is launching its own STEM-focused camps, designed for students eager to explore video game and app development at an intermediate and advanced level! Whether campers are taking their first steps in coding or refining their development skills, these immersive experiences will empower them to bring their ideas to life and prepare for future success in the ever-evolving world of technology.
As a college preparatory academy, we are committed to fostering innovation, creativity, and technical skill-building, giving students hands-on experience with programming, logic, and design.

Week 1, Intermediate Level: July 21-24, 10am-2pm each day
Week 2, Advanced Level: July 28-31, 10am-2pm each day - Age Range: Rising 8th-12 grade students for the 2025-2026 school year (does not need to be an Ascension Academy student)
- Cost: $200 per camper, per week

- Perks: Each camper will receive a license for the software solutions used in the camp for 30 days, along with a flash drive with all of the files and notes from the camp so they can continue to build on their projects long after the camp ends.
Campers do not need to attend both weeks, although they certainly may! Campers should have basic navigation skills on a computer and have access to a personal email address.
Spaces are limited so parents should register their kids now!

We wanted to share a quick update about a special event happening today supporting local hunger relief efforts. McDonald’s Gives Back Day is taking place TODAY, Tuesday, July 29th and High Plains Food Bank is grateful to be the beneficiary.
When you dine at any participating McDonald’s in Amarillo, Canyon, Dumas, Dalhart, or Borger a portion of the day’s sales will be donated directly to HPFB. These funds will help provide meals for families across the Texas Panhandle. Right now, every $1 raised helps provide up to 9 meals.
We hope that you will join us at McDonald’s tomorrow and spread the word to make this a successful day and help us provide food and hope for our neighbors across the Texas Panhandle.

TICKETS FOR ‘SYMPHONY UNDER THE STARS’ AT HODGETOWN ON SALE NOW
Amarillo Symphony Returns for a Magical Night of Music, Food, and Fireworks on September 6
AMARILLO, TX (June 17, 2025) – The Amarillo Symphony and the Amarillo Sod Poodles are thrilled to announce that tickets are now on sale for the sixth annual “Symphony Under the Stars” at HODGETOWN. This year’s highly anticipated outdoor concert will take place on Saturday, September 6, with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
The Panhandle’s only professional symphony orchestra will be conducted by George Jackson as they kick off the 2025–26 season with an unforgettable program featuring the iconic music of John Williams. Audiences can expect beloved selections from legendary films such as Star Wars, E.T., Harry Potter, and more.
An evening of timeless classics under the West Texas sky will be capped off with a spectacular Fireworks Finale presented by FirstBank Southwest making for a night the entire family can enjoy. Food and drink will be available throughout the event, and guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the full experience.
Tickets start at just $14 and can be purchased online HERE. A limited number of on-field VIP Tables are also available, each including seating for eight and a prime steak dinner, offering a front-row view of the performance.

AMARILLO – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Northwest Texas Region Chief Joe Longway will deliver remarks at a special unveiling ceremony for a Hoof Prints of the American Quarter Horse statue tomorrow, Tuesday, July 29 at the DPS District Office in Amarillo. The new statue, named “Trooper,” will symbolize strength, honor and service and pay tribute to DPS personnel serving Texans in the Panhandle.
Region Chief Longway will be joined at the ceremony by other DPS leaders and personnel, as well as members of the community.
Established in 2002, Hoof Prints of the American Quarter Horse is a city-wide public art display project by Center City of Amarillo and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), which is headquartered in Amarillo. The project features dozens of life-size fiberglass American Quarter Horses designed by local artists and put on display at several locations around Amarillo.
