This Education Event is FREE to Register For In partnership with All Path, the Alliance for Pathways into Engineering, students in the Texas Panhandle grades 5-12 will put their engineering skills to the test at DHDC’s Energy Day! This two-part event challenges students to build a working version of a catapult with materials provided by All Path in the 75 minutes allotted for each team’s construction time. Teams will then test their catapults with sieges, with judges taking notes on each build’s power and accuracy when fired. During judging and other teams’ launch times, students will have time to explore DHDC’s newest Ice Dinosaurs exhibit, included in the competition entry. School groups may have up to 10 teams registered per campus. Homeschool groups are also permitted to register. Each team must have a minimum of two students and a maximum of five students per team. Caprock High School will celebrate its 2026 Homecoming with the annual Caprock High School Homecoming Parade on Monday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m. This year’s theme, “Out of This World,” will bring together Caprock students, student organizations, feeder schools, community partners, local businesses, and families for an evening celebrating Longhorn pride and the Caprock community. The parade is organized by the Caprock High School Student Council and is designed to extend Homecoming beyond the walls of the school and into the community Caprock serves. Participants will include student organizations, athletic groups, community organizations, and representatives from Caprock’s feeder schools. Local food trucks will also be on site prior to and during the event, giving families and community members an opportunity to gather before the parade begins. Members of the Amarillo community are invited to attend, line the parade route, and help Caprock High School kick off its 2026 Homecoming celebration.
