Amarillo Heist, a thirty-minute crime drama set in 1989 in the Texas Panhandle, will be having its Borger TX premiere at the historic Morley Theater on Saturday August 22nd at 2pm!
The Morley, a beautiful vintage-style movie theater built in 1947, is a special place because it’s one of the few remaining theaters in the country to still have balcony seating, à la movie palaces from the days of yore. The Grande Auditorium, where the film will be screened, also features one of the largest screens in the Texas Panhandle.
As always, the screening will be preceded by our ultra-rad 80’s trivia video and followed by a Q&A with myself and the cast. It’s a huge honor for my little indie film to be screened at this historic theater. You’re all invited if you’re up for the trek to Borger! Oh, and it’s FREE, with no ticket required, just show up!
Texas Panhandle Overdose Awareness invites the community to come together from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Sam Houston Park for an evening dedicated to remembering those lost to overdose, honoring those still fighting and celebrating the lives that have been saved.
The annual Overdose Awareness Event will combine remembrance and education with activities for the entire community. The event will feature live music, food trucks, a bouncy house, a silent auction, a tattoo raffle, free Narcan and Narcan training, overdose-prevention information and community resources.
After dark, attendees will gather for a candlelight vigil and reading of names honoring loved ones lost to overdose. Community members may also submit the name and photograph of a loved one to be included in the event memorial.
“Every person lost to overdose was someone’s child, parent, sibling, friend or loved one,” said Angie Duncan, founder of Texas Panhandle Overdose Awareness. “This event gives our community a place to remember them without shame or stigma while also sharing resources, supporting recovery and helping prevent future loss. Every life matters, and no family should have to face this alone.”
