Open from September 20th – January 9th at the Don Harrington Discovery Center.
Calling young artists and inventors! Immerse yourself in the mind of Leonardo da Vinci– building, sketching, testing, and designing, just like the “Renaissance Man” himself. Hands-on activity tables explore his contributions to art, science, anatomy and engineering. Will you recreate da Vinci’s work, or add an exciting twist that’s all your own?
Included with membership or general admission.
Leonardo’s Lab, a traveling exhibit, was developed by Carnegie Science Center (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) and produced in partnership with the Sciencecenter (Ithaca, New York).

Who: Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee and Association of Amarillo Realtors
What: Free Home Buyer Education Class
When: Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:20 p.m.
Where: East Branch Library, 2232 SE 27th Avenue, Amarillo, TX
Why: Did you know that 50% of El Barrio residents currently own their homes and several of these homes have been owned for three generations? Our goal is to raise home ownership in El Barrio neighborhood to at least 55%.
Home ownership helps to improve El Barrio neighborhood by taking better care of your yard and property, having safer neighborhoods, and our families tend to live in their homes longer. To encourage and increase home ownership and to help celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, the Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee (BNPC) will co-host a free home buyers education class, in English and Spanish, with the Association of Amarillo Realtors. This class will be held at the East Branch Library in Amarillo, Texas at 6:00 p.m.
During this class, you will learn about:
1) available homes for sale in or near the Barrio and our city by a local realtor.
2) tips for becoming a successful home owner.
3) partners and resources available to future home owners.
We invite all adults to participate in this free class and you are welcome to bring your children. A Spanish interpreter and materials in Spanish will be available.
Free bottled water, a free dinner, and two door prizes, a TV and a gift card, will be provided by the Association of Amarillo Realtors.
The Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee, a nonprofit 501c3 organization, was established in March 2017 in coordination with the City of Amarillo with a mission of preserving and revitalizing El Barrio neighborhood.
For more information to become involved with the BNPC, please contact Teresa Kenedy, President, at (806) 437-6592, visit our website at amarillobarrioneighborhood.com, or email us at: bnpamarillo@gmail.com.
