AMARILLO LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS TO
OFFER EXPANDED CIVICS 101 CLASS
The League of Women Voters of Amarillo will offer an expanded version of their Civics 101
Class that will now include school board and community college units in addition to the city,
county, special districts, and state units taught last year. The first presentation of the expanded
version will be presented on Saturday, March 1st at the downtown library from Noon until 3 pm.
Light lunch will be served.
In addition, the class will also deal with information potential candidates running for office would
need to know to serve in these levels of local government. Many people have thought about
running for office but feel they feel they don’t know enough about the level of government in which
they are interested in serving. General information about seeking offices will be provided.
In addition to providing information for would-be candidates, anyone who is interested in refreshing
their knowledge of these levels of government are also invited to attend. There will be handouts
accompanying the slide presentation.
After the lunch, there will be two breaks before the conclusion of the workshop, along with light
refreshments. Reservations are not required, and the workshop is free of charge. For additional
information, contact Claudia Stravato, 806-626-2452 or Katie Paul at 806-433-1607.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that does not promote or endorse
candidates but emphasizes voting by everyone and supports issues after thorough study.
