Why:            Do you like to shop? Then please join us at the 1st Barrio Popup Shop fundraiser, at 918 South Houston Street, which is the future location of La Plazita Park. You may buy products from 33 adult and 6 child vendors , play games, and visit with several local businesses and organizations. There is no entry fee for this event.

Four food trucks are from Teddy Jacks’s Armadillo Grill, Chick-Fil-A, TruBlu Coffee, and food truck owner, Diane Hoss, who will be selling breakfast burritos and other food items. Other adult vendors will be selling jewelry, desserts, churros, pottery, aguas frescas, hard candy, fresh tortillas, hair and/or makeup products, and other various items. Six children will sell hair bows, homemade items, jewelry, etc.. Kids may have fun playing free corn hole, Loteria bingo, Jenga, two bounce houses, and use free kid building kits provided by Home Depot. The City of Amarillo Health Department will offer free child and adult vaccinations for people who are uninsured. And check out the cool Tesla vehicle provided by the Cactus Cove Inn & Suites.

The Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee (BNPC), a nonprofit 501c3 organization, was established in March 2017 in coordination with the City of Amarillo with a mission of preserving, revitalizing, and educating  El Barrio neighborhood. The BNPC board includes 13 volunteers who implement the Barrio neighborhood plan one brick at a time. We are currently working to raise $230,000 to build this beautiful park and we hope to break ground during the summer of 2027.
