Protect your holiday packages
from porch pirates with law
enforcement help
Christmas is approaching, and with it
comes an influx in package deliveries to
the Amarillo area. As in previous years,
“porch pirates”. are likely to target
homes with visible packages on their
doorsteps and may spoil the holidays.
The Randall County Sheriff’s Office
wants to help citizens by providing an
option to have your packages sent to its
secure location.
Maintain your name on the package,
but substitute the address with that of
the Sheriff’s Office: 9100 S. Georgia,
Amarillo, TX, 79118,where your pack-
ages will be securely stored. The Sher-
iff’s Office is open Monday to Friday
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you require pack-
age pickup after regular hours, please
contact dispatch at 806-468-5800 to
schedule a time to retrieve your package
and bring a photo ID.
The Amarillo Police Department also
offers these tips to keep your deliveries
secure: •
• Select an Amazon locker during
checkout and pick up your packages at
your convenience.
• Check with your employer-many
allow packages to be delivered at work-
places during business hours.
• The Potter County Sheriff’s Office
is also offering a safe delivery option for
citizens. Follow their Facebook page for
more details.
• For packages that must have home
delivery, require a signature upon deliv-
ery to prevent packages from being left
unattended. Ask a trusted neighbor to
pick up your package if you won’t be
home. (And don’t forget to return the fa-
vor for them.)
