Wednesday June 5th, 2024, the Amarillo PD held a promotion ceremony for three of our officers. Corporal Jeremiah Hopper was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and Officers Frock and Kinnison were promoted to the rank of Corporal.
Corporal Hopper has been with the Amarillo Police Department for 18 years. He graduated from the 75th Police Academy in December 2006. He was assigned to the Patrol Unit.
Corporal Hopper was promoted to the rank of Corporal on September 12, 2018.
Corporal Hopper has served as a member of the Honor Guard for 12 years and served 5 years in the Detective Division as an investigator in the Theft Unit. For the last 5 years he has been a member of the Bomb Squad. His current assignment is the Patrol Division 2nd Watch.
Corporal Hopper has specialized training as a Bomb Technician and is a Certified Basic Instructor. He has been trained in Basic SWAT and several other training courses related to the bomb tech specialized position.
Corporal Hopper holds a TCOLE Master Peace Officer License.
Corporal Hopper has received 1 Division Citation, 3 Meritorious Service Citations and numerous blue sheets.
Corporal Hopper has been married to his wife Cynthia for 12 years, and together they have 2 kids, Luke (17) and Jasleen (11).
In his spare time Corporal Hopper enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys being on the worship team at his church. His hobbies include working on classic vehicles in his garage.
Officer Thomas Frock began his career with the Amarillo Police Department three years ago.
Officer Frock graduated from the 96th Police Academy in June 2021. His first assignment was to Patrol 1st Watch, Mids West., and still doing a great job. His specialized training includes CIT alternate and FTO.
Officer Frock has received two Life Saving Awards.
Officer Frock and his wife, Kellie, have been together for seventeen years. They have two awesome children, Connor, 15 yrs old and McKaylee, 12 yrs old. In his spare time Officer Frock enjoys watching his kids play sports.
Officer Jon Kinnison started with the Amarillo Police Dept. in 2017, as a Full Time Shooting Range Officer. He has been with APD for seven years. Before coming to the Amarillo Police Department, Officer Kinnison was in the United States Marine Corp. for seven years. He served two combat deployments, Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2010. Officer Kinnison graduated from the 93rd Police Academy in June 2019. He was first assigned to Patrol 3rd Watch, transferring to NPO in 2021. In 2024 Officer Kinnison transferred from NPO to PACE. His specialized units include Gang Intelligence Unit, Honor Guard and Mobile Field Force. He is currently assigned to the Special Operations/PACE Unit.
Officer Kinnison has specialized training in Basic SWAT School, Hard Entry School, DEA Basic Narcotics Investigator, PPCT Basic Instructor School, Defensive Tactics Instructor, National Honor Guard Academy and FTO School. He is also a Field Training Officer. Officer Kinnison has received two (2) Meritorious Service Citations. He currently holds a TCOLE Basic Peace Officer License.
Officer Kinnison and his girlfriend, Lacy Wilson, have been together for three years. Together they have four awesome kids, Matthew, Rylee, Doc and Spurr. In his spare time Officer Kinnison enjoys hunting, camping, and fishing.
