From: Lisa Johnson Subject: March-a-thon Weekend in CISD
Hello! We’d love your help getting the word out – and hope you can join us – as CISD high school bands take to the streets this weekend for their annual Marchathons. These long-standing traditions fill Canyon neighborhoods and City View with music while raising funds for upcoming competitions and travel.
Full details below.
Canyon ISD Bands Kick Off the Year with Marchathons and Performances
The streets will come alive with music as Canyon ISD’s high school bands bring their energy, tradition, and talent to the community through annual Marchathons and performances. These events not only celebrate the start of a new school year, but also serve as fundraisers to help support the bands’ upcoming competitive performances and travel expenses.
Canyon High School Soaring Pride Band – 164 members A tradition stretching back decades, the Canyon High School Soaring Pride Band will step off for its annual Marchathon on Saturday, August 16, at 7:00 a.m. from Crestview Elementary. The morning will feature a Concert on the Canyon Square at approximately 8:30 a.m., followed by additional neighborhood stops.
This year’s marching show theme, “Nomadic,” will be featured in stadium performances this fall, community members lining the Marchathon route will hear the band’s signature drum cadences, school songs, fight songs, and other crowd favorites.
Donations help fund travel and expenses for competitions throughout the marching season. You can donate or learn more at the Canyon High School Soaring Pride Band Facebook page.
Marchathon Route Highlights: Crestview Elementary → Northridge → Hunsley Hills Blvd → Concert on the Square → Canyon Intermediate → University Church of Christ → Canyon High School.
Randall High School Raider Band – 160 members
The Randall High School Raider Band will bring “Flight of Wonder” to life in their marching season performances – a tropical, bird-inspired production featuring several All-State musicians.
During their Marchathon on Saturday, August 16, starting at 8:00 a.m. in the City View neighborhood, the community will enjoy drum cadences, fight songs, school songs, and plenty of high-energy music as the band marches through the streets.
Donations will support travel to competitions and program needs. Song requests, route details, and online giving are available at: rhs-band-booster.square.site/marchathon or through the Randall Raider Band Facebook page.
West Plains High School Wolf Pack Band – 139 members
The 139-member Wolf Pack Band will debut “Opus 78” as their marching season performance this fall. While West Plains will not hold a Marchathon in 2025, the community is invited to the Parent Exhibition & Fundraiser Performance on Friday, September 5, at 5:15 p.m.
“These events are a Canyon ISD tradition with a rich history — many of our employees were members of our bands and participated in these Marchathons decades ago,” said Chris Hawkins, CISD Coordinator of Fine Arts and Academics. “It’s a special way to connect generations, showcase the incredible work our students have put in since summer rehearsals, and celebrate the community that supports them year after year.”
