HEART GALLERY OF THE PANHANDLE PLAINS AWARDS GRANT MONEY TO SUPPORT FAMILIES FORMED THROUGH ADOPTION
Check presentation to highlight collaboration with area providers supporting adoptive families
Highlighting the importance of November as National Adoption Month, Heart Gallery of the Panhandle Plains is pleased to announce awards of almost $60,000 in grant monies to support families formed through adoption. Heart Galleries of Texas conducted a needs assessment that included responses from 388 parents and175 social service providers across Texas. Findings suggest 60% of caregivers are unsatisfied with mental health services for their child(ren) and family. Caregivers also report that in addition to mental health services, childcare and respite care are difficult for adoptive families to access, but highly needed.
Heart Gallery of the Panhandle Plains, a Heart Galleries of Texas affiliate, is “dedicated to improving adoption outcomes and I am excited to see them expanding from promoting adoptions to also supporting families after adoption,” said Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott. “We look forward to the lasting positive impact on adoption outcomes for children and families across the state.”
