MEDIA ADVISORY: DPS to Hold Boat Dedication Ceremony in Amarillo
AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will hold a boat dedication ceremony to honor the life and service of Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Dewayne Myrick on Friday, July 26, in Amarillo.
On Jan. 20, 2006, Trooper Myrick died in a vehicle crash while responding to a call. In 2021, a portion of U.S. Highway 60 was also dedicated to Trooper Myrick.
Members of Trooper Myrick’s family, State Representative Four Price, DPS Northwest Texas Regional Director Joe Longway and Texas Highway Patrol Chief Bryan Rippee, as well as fellow Troopers, area law enforcement and other elected leaders will be in attendance.
