Amarillo League of Women Voters Invites Community to
Monthly Meeting Saturday with Amarillo Tribune’s Jackie Kingston
The Amarillo League of Women Voters welcomes the public to join them this Saturday morning for the return of their Monthly Membership Meeting after a summer hiatus. The details are:
- Saturday, September 21st
- 10:00 a.m.
- Amarillo Area Foundation, 919 S Polk St., Amarillo, TX 79101
- Featuring special guest speaker, Jackie Kingston (CEO / Executive Editor, Amarillo Tribune)
This event is free and open to the public, and all LWV members are encouraged to attend. Parking is available behind the building, and refreshments will be served. Participants are also welcome to bring breakfast snacks to share. Voter registration will also be available onsite, so come if you need to check your status or register for the upcoming election.
Reminder: This is an election year, and the League is dedicated to empowering voters to participate in US elections! If your organization, business, nonprofit, or church is interested in having League set up a voter registration booth BEFORE THE Oct. 7th DEADLINE, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can accommodate your request. Also, we offer a free seminar on city, county, and state civics; feel free to reach out if you’d like to feature this Civics 101 presentation at an upcoming gathering or event. ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Jackie Kingston has been a trusted source of local news since her tenure as a television news journalist in Amarillo from 2008 to 2024. After taking a break from the workforce early in the year, she became the inaugural Amarillo Tribune employee and signed on as CEO / Executive Editor in April 2024. Jackie holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting (2009) and a Master of Arts in Communication (2023) from West Texas A&M University. She returned to her alma mater to teach broadcasting and communications classes in 2018. Jackie has served on the High Plains Food Bank Board of Directors since 2016 and the Amarillo Area Foundation Board since 2023. Jackie’s career was recognized by West Texas A&M University’s Communications Department with the Rising Star award in 2015. She was also recognized as a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains with the Discover award in 2016. Her accolades include being a part of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce’s Top 20 Under 40 in 2019. The Amarillo Association of Fundraising Professionals awarded Jackie with the Heart of Philanthropy award in 2022. Jackie’s work was recognized by the Texas Association of Broadcasters for Best Television Politics / Election Coverage in 2023. Jackie is married to the love of her life, Lytton St. Stephen.
