WHAT: Students and faculty from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy will join the Texas Panhandle Poison Center for the 100th Medication Cleanout™.
WHEN: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
April 11 (Saturday)
WHERE: TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy
1300 South Coulter St.
EVENT: During the event, Panhandle residents will have the opportunity to safely dispose of expired, unused or unnecessary medications as part of the upcoming Medication Cleanout™, a community initiative aimed
at reducing the risk of accidental poisonings, drug misuse and environmental contamination.
This event offers a convenient, drive-thru, drop-off format, allowing participants to discard their medications without leaving their vehicles. Yard signs will direct drivers to the proper path, and residents are asked to keep medications in their original containers for easier disposal. Thousands of pounds of unwanted medications and sharps have been safely disposed of since 2009. These medications are no longer available as a source for poisonings, abuse, misuse, or environmental contamination.
Upon arrival, media must check in with Ronica Farrar, from the Texas
Panhandle Poison Center at TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy.
