ALT is bringing one of Broadway’s most powerful and beloved musicals to the Mainstage November 6-26 — Ragtime! This Tony Award-winning production tells an unforgettable story of hope, identity, and the American Dream, brought to life by an extraordinary local cast and a full 25-piece orchestra.

RAGTIME is a sweeping musical adaptation of E.L. Doctorow’s novel that follows three fictional families in pursuit of the American Dream at the dawn of the 20th Century: Black pianist Coalhouse Walker, Jr. and his beloved Sarah, Jewish immigrant Tateh and his little girl and a wealthy white family led by matriarch Mother. All grasping for the same dream, if only they can hold on to it.

Featuring a lush score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, a stirring book by Terrence McNally and original orchestrations by William David Brohn, all of whom won Tony Awards for their work, RAGTIME weaves fictional narratives with real historical figures and events, creating a rich tapestry that blurs the line between personal struggle and national identity, making history feel both intimate and epic.

Don’t miss this unforgettable theatrical experience that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring power of hope.

The musical Ragtime is playing at the Amarillo Little Theatre from November 6–16, 2025, with showtimes on various days during that period. Specific performance times are: Thursdays and Fridays at 7:00 PMSaturdays at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, and Sundays at 2:00 PM

History of Veteran’s Day

Veterans Day was first known as Armistice Day. Armistice Day was established by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919, in honor of the signing of the Armistice to end World War I. The signing took place at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, giving significance to the day and time. President Dwight D. Eisenhower changed the name of the celebration to Veterans Day in 1954 at the end of the Korean War to honor all Veterans. Today, Veterans Day is observed in the United States on November 11, and is both a federal and state holiday.

In Arizona, Honoring America’s Veterans or HAV is the proud sponsor of the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade. HAV is a 501 (c) (3) organization and is operating this event in its private capacity as an organization. HAV works with the City of Phoenix who provides support to the event with city street services, Police and Fire assistance and other ancillary services.
