Odyssey Dance Competition
Amarillo Home & Garden Show
“Drive-Away Dolls”: Writer-director Ethan Coen goes solo with this crime comedy. Also opening: anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training” and faith-based drama “Ordinary Angels.” (Opens Thursday; Cinergy, 9201 Cinergy Square)
The play’s to-member cast is under the
direction of Ray Newburg, longtime pro-
gram coordinator, who says Hellman’s
searing tale of family betrayal that made
its Broadway debut way back in 1939has
relevance yet today. “Good pieces of liter-
ature stand the test of time; they don’t
show their age;’ Newburg said. “This play
contains certain universal aspects ofhu-
man behavior, of family dysfunction and
greed, that are very recognizable today.”
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students (college or high school) and AC
employees. They can be purchased online
or at the door. Additionally, groups oflOor
more are entitled to $6 seats if purchased
at least 24 hours in advance.
.“Rent”: The iconic rock musical gets its debut staging at the Amarillo Little Theatre Adventure Space in a virtually sold-out two-weekend run. But there’s no day (like) today to get on the waitlist. The quartet will perform Felix Men-
delssohn’s String Quartet in A minor and
Antonin Dvorak’s String Quartet in Cma-
jor, both iconic works of the classical rep-
ertoire, as well as Henry Purcell’s Chaco-
ny in G minor, which significantly pre-
dates early classical quartets.
Single tickets are $20; season pack-
ages are $50 each. Buff Gold cardholders

figure, illustrated a version of the story
that incorporated his iconic melting
clocks and other avant-garde imagery.
